On Monday, March 22, all California public schools - including CC, CSU and UC - will be marching on Sacramento to protest the budget cuts.
AS has put up $5,000 to pay for two buses to get students to Sacramento. While that's great - it's not enough.
I am proud to say that the bus is full and there is only waiting list room. Myslef and a friend were two of the last to fill the list.
On the other hand, there aren't enough buses. Only 2 buses for like 30,000 students. That doesn't make sense.
AS has asked clubs and organizations to donate money in order to pay for more buses. While this is not ideal and, I feel CSUN should be putting up all the money, what else can we do. We don't have time to complain. We can't waste time.
The Black Students Union has pledged $500 and the Hip Hop Think Tanl has pledge $250. We ask our respective departments to match these donations.
If your club or organization can donate money back to AS from your club account, you can be instrumental in getting more students to Sacramento.
The buses are scheduled to leave on March 22 at 2 am. I'll keep you posted on more details.
